Thompson Family Reunion '08

The Johnson's hosted the inaugural Charles & Hattie Thompson Family Reunion. And, by acclamation of all of those present there will be many more to come. The reunion was based in Estes Park, CO ... an absolutely stunning location, made more fantastic by the Fall colors.

The Thompson Reunion brought family from Maryland, New York, Washington, Oregon, North Dakota, North Carolina, Arizona and Colorado.

We took an afternoon trip out to a nearby meadow in the Rocky Mountain National Park and found a ton of people watching quite a few Elk ... and taking in the beautiful Fall colors. Some members of the family were off fly fishing, Gondola riding and museum visiting.

We also went on a very enjoyable horseback ride at the YMCA of the Rockies, and rode through the beautiful Fall colors and spotted several deer.

Out for a very enjoyable family meal together at the Fawn Brook Inn ... the best part was definitely the company.

Many of us ventured back into Rocky Mountain National Park for a short hike to Alberta Falls. During which we did get a little wet on the way back down, with a few seconds of sleet ... even that added to the enjoyment of being together in such an awe inspiring location.

Back out at YMCA of the Rockies for a very enjoyable evening hay ride, bonfire for roasting marshmallows to make smores. We saw several more male Elk and one male had himself a small herd of cows. The Elk seem to be just about every where.

It will be hard to top this location and activities at future reunions, but, the overriding enjoyment for all was the renewal of family ties. Who is who and how all the pieces fit together. It was a blessing to gather together again in such an amazing location for just the sheer fun and enjoyment of each other. Here area a couple of more random pics.
