This was our first ever hike in the Superstitions. We've wanted to hike out here for a long time, especially to see Weaver's Needle up close ... and, today was finally the day.
Timing was very good ... day before the Super Bowl ... and the previous weekend it rained. Rained long and steady, so there was plenty of water in the creek. We were blessed to hear the creek virtually all the way to the top. What a lovely sound, especially here in the desert.
We were up early and out to the trailhead by 8am ... early ... and most importantly ahead of the crowd. This definitely is one of the most popular trails in the Superstitions, however, it is a bit of a challenging hike. It is a steady climb all the way to the Freemont Saddle, which is the turn around point for today's hike.

Freemont Saddle is not only the turn around point, but also provides the payoff for the hike ... an absolutely awesome view of Weaver's Needle. And because of the early start, we virtually had the Freemont Saddle all to ourselves.
Because of the steady climb ... the way back down provides a certain amount of momentum that is a little hard to hold back. We had a great outing and the views were awesome. We even found a patch of ice on the trail, it apparently was getting very cold at night.
