Wow! What an awesome hike! We've hiked up to Horton Springs many times, and we've always taken the old Jeep trail. Horton Springs is in our top two of hikes. This time, with the help of our guides, we took the trail(s) along the creek, virtually all the way to the top. Wow! What we've been missing all this time. The old Jeep trail runs near the creek on several occasions, but nothing like right next to the creek the entire time. And the Wow factor wasn't even affected by the chance encounter with a medium sized rattle snake, just a bonus story, seeing how nobody got bit. The trail(s) along the creek take a little more effort, and a little more time and take a little route finding ... but, well worth it.
