Grand Canyon Permit Trip

We headed up to the Grand Canyon South Rim for a long weekend to attempt to get our Backcountry Permit for our October trek. No permit, no trek.

We spent a long weekend enjoying the Rim in a way that we never had in the past. We had done day trips to the South Rim or the plunge in and plod out exhausted but fully immersed in the beauty of the inner canyon trip. But this was a leisurely enjoyment of the South Rim itself.

But, bottom line, the real purpose was to get our Backcountry Permit. We did walk away with a Reservation, not for the dates we wanted, but only 5 days later. So we counted the trip as a success!
